January 2024 Fishing Report

Fishing during January has been dominated by the volatile weather conditions. There were some tough fishing days and some really good ones, with plenty in between. A mix of rainbow, blue and brown trout were reported caught, to a wide range of tactics. Tried and trusted tactics of lures AM and nymphs PM have proved reliable. However if the weather is rough, lures are often your best bet all day. If weather is like a pleasant early spring day and we’ve enjoyed a couple this week, expect nymphs to be the main line of attack. It’s even worth trying a dry dropper in such conditions, we’ve seen a few surface takes this week. Be sure to carry lures in black, white, olive and orange, black buzzers, bloodworm, Diawl bach and a shuttlecock style dry, just in case!
