A very mild January brought nymph fishing to the fore, general nymph patterns such as hares ear, plus buzzers and bloodworms produced excellent catches most days. When the fish wanted something else, the usual lures in a variety of colours did well.
Fish of the month a 16lb rainbow, fell to regular rod Alf Hardy, taking a fry pattern as it chased roach among the reeds. Several other doubles were reported among some very good catches, however the 2 big brown trout stocked recently remain at large!
Hope to see you soon.
