The first half of October has seen dramatic improvement in fishing after the challenging days of summer. Anglers are experiencing good sport with both lures and nymphs, while those of you who try dry fly are enjoying watching trout sip your fly from the surface, this will no doubt continue until the first few frosts arrive.
Rainbows, blues and the odd brown trout have shown in catches already, as huge numbers of small buzzers hatch, significant fry feeding is occurring and the corixa, caddis and shrimp are very active in our mature lakes. All this activity is clearly wetting the trouts appetite!
Recommended flies are Diawl Bach, fry patterns (please note, NO double hooked lures or boobies are allowed), bloodworm, cruncher, Adams, daddy long legs, Montana nymph.
We look forward to seeing you lakeside!
