The fishery has performed superbly over recent weeks. Guests have enjoyed some good catches and big fish, which included double figure brown blue and rainbow trout.
Right now trout are targeting the massive buzzer hatches and falls of hawthorn fly. We are also starting to see rapeseed beetles and a few spring daddies. All this is bringing fish close to the surface in dry conditions. Trout are also attacking roach shoals as they shoal up to spawn.
All this means that sparse black nymphs and dries plus a few lures have proved consistently successful. Top lure colours are black, white, yellow, orange and a bit of sparkle works wonders sometimes!
The caravan site opened mid April and we now have the Tickled Trout cafe open too. Perfect for breakfast, lunch or a light snack to fuel your fishing exploits. To top things off the lakes and surrounding countryside look fantastic.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
