Really good hatches of buzzers continue and trout are focusing on these and other really small prey items right now. Lures are catching first thing in the day, however after that small nymphs are most productive.
While fishing is entering the more challenging high summer period, visiting anglers continue to catch fish, with rainbows to 13lbs recorded this month.
Lures in black, white and green are go-to colours, then try a change colour if these don’t produce. Nymph fishing is very successful, with bloodworm, buzzers, HE nymph, PTN and Diawl Bach all having their moments of glory. Try fishing your nymph under a dry, like an F fly or shuttlecock. This combination often works well for our browns!
Best wishes from everyone at Loynton.
